This course will provide a lively introduction to iterative design and design thinking through hands-on projects. Class projects will survey physical science concepts including motion, forces, energy, sound, light, and electricity. Participants will make devices, experiencing a spectrum of design from low tech to high tech. From paper rockets to e-textiles and circuit bending, partici- pants will have the opportunity to work with colleagues on classroom ready answers to incorpo- rating engineering and design into existing curriculum, New fabrication tools will be explored, featuring Vermont FabLab’s rapid prototyping equipment. Beyond the classroom we will connect educators to local and online resources for STEAM educational approaches and the DIY Maker Movement.
